The Tarzan Soap Opera Spoof
Hello there soap opera nerds, I have to say something really interesting today.
I’ve found a loose Tanzanian adaptation to both Tarzan of the Apes and The Return of Tarzan, which is now online on the Boncena Got Talent’s YouTube channel. Released in 2024, it has a strong following from middle aged and young people alike in the YouTube channel of Boncena Got Talent.
It is so cheapish but decent, being full of low budget 90s style camp that I can’t help but reluctantly laugh and respect, as it stars a cast of Tanzanian soap opera actors who’ve tried their best to do their own takes on a very low-ish budget. Keyboard Guys, many of your ideas for a black Tarzan are in a Tanzanian Mockbuster that exudes loads of camp, which is one of the reasons why ERB Inc. has to keep away its ERBU canon Tarzan from all kinds of unofficial works like this.
Not to mention that it’s a short soap opera miniseries, being only 19 episodes long, perhaps shorter than Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, but not quite as short as both 41 Productions’ Tarzan and Jane for Netflix and perhaps even WB’s own Tarzan show by Eric Kripke of Supernatural fame for that matter.
